The Timeline of Provenance

Circa 1540 Tudor Estate Timber

Tudor Walnut Heritage

Reclaimed walnut beams from country manor estates in South West England. Having dried naturally for nearly five hundred years, this timber features dark chocolate-brown hues and an incredibly dense fiber, turning into highly prized, heavy writing instruments.

Circa 1805 Maritime Ship Oak

Royal Navy Salvaged Oak

Turned from structural heart-oak salvaged during the decommission and restoration of historical maritime vessels. The dark, weathered grey-green grain shows deep ocean seasoning and represents a literal fragment of naval history in your hand.

Circa 2026 Devon Orchard Wood

Native English Orchards

Sustainably harvested from wild applewood, cherry, and spalted beech in the valleys surrounding Ermington. These local woods offer vibrant orange, beige, and rose-gold undertones, showcasing the natural variety of the English countryside.

Craftsman's Journal Entry

The Spirit of the Hand-Lathe

Wood is a living material, even after it is cut. On the lathe mandrel, it resists the tool at first, then surrenders. You can feel the change in texture as the chisels cut through decades of growth rings. Applewood smells sweet under the blade; yew has a sharp, ancient scent. Once the shape is true, we apply organic waxes to highlight the raw grain. We do not use plastic coatings. A wooden pen should feel like a tree, warm and alive in the hand.

Ermington Workshops

Bespoke Qualities

The Tactile Senses

Scent & Grain

No fake synthetic coatings are applied. We finish the wood with organic carnauba and beeswax, keeping the natural fragrance, warmth, and texture of the wood intact.

Weight & Feed

Hand-turned bodies are matched with premium German-engineered nib structures and wet rollerball feeds, providing perfect balance and smooth ink delivery.

Heirloom Quality

Built to last multiple generations. The wood grain slowly absorbs the oils from your fingers over time, developing a unique personal patina.
